Chris Sherriff had a resounding 21 - 7 home win against Martin Griffiths (Worcester BC).
He followed that up with a 21 - 11 win away against Ian Taylor of Hewell BC.

Peter Hancock & Chris Sherriff beat Andy Cook & partner (Worcester BC) 15 - 12 having been 1 - 7 down at one point.
They then travelled again to Worcester BC to play Mark Atkins & Simon Jones and came away with a 17 - 10 victory with an end to spare.
They finally succumbed to a 17 - 18 defeat by Alan Lerry & partner away at St.Dunstans.

BE Mens Champion of Champions

Mike Bradburn lost 7 - 21 to Peter Hancox of Hewell.

BE Ladies Senior Singles

Deb Sherriff lost away to Alison Cartwright (Pershore).

BE Ladies Senior Pairs

Sheila Payne & Deb Sherriff scored a 16 - 9 away win against Julie Morgan & partner (Manor Park), longer jacks proving to be their opponents' downfall.
They then travelled to Gilt Edge to play Jackie Stafford & partner. After a shaky start on a very fast green, our ladies won the jack and decided to take the mat up the green and play short jacks. This seemed to throw the opposition and a win of 22 - 8 after 16 ends ensued.
Unfortunately they lost a close fought home regional semi-final to Hannah Mann & Sandra Jones of Weobley & District, Herefordshire. Early ends were shared, but then the opposition started to find the pace better and pulled away. With six ends to play our ladies trailed by six, but pulled back and a four on the 17th end took them into the final end one up. The opposition lead found three superb bowls and though Sheila managed to disturb one the two remaining gave the Weobley ladies the win 18 - 17.

BE Ladies Champion of Champions

Sheila Payne lost 11 - 21 to Joan Parfitt of Broadway.

BE Mixed Pairs

Bill Greenway had to concede a walk-over to John Oliver (Broadway)

Rod & Sheila Payne lost 17 - 21 to Jack Pullin & partner (Bredon)

Deb & Chris Sherriff beat Trish Emms & Dennis Hall (Broadway) 21 - 7 at Lilleshall
They followed that up with an 18 - 8 home win against Ira Blake and Allan Griffiths of St.Dunstans.
Finally their run came to an end with a 6 - 17 defeat to Wayne White & England under-25 trialist Aqua-Marie Griffiths (Chester Road BC).

BE Mixed Fours

Mark Kaleta, Quentin Smith, Ruth Lowe & Liz Caird lost 7 - 25 to Sue Davies's four from Broadway BC.

Chris & Deb Sherriff and Rod & Sheila Payne beat a team from Hewell and Pershore BCs on an extra end after finishing 19 - 19. Behind after the first few ends the team rallied and drew level a couple of times, only to slip back. Skip Chris Sherriff played several shot-saving bowls during the game and found a perfectly-weighted bowl to trickle in to the jack to take the deciding end.
They then beat John Oliver's team from Broadway BC 15 - 10.
They finally succumbed in an incredible game to the Chester Road fathers and daughters team of Maddie & Grant Burgess (his credentials elsewhere on this page) and Izzy & Wayne White (Izzy being a former national junior champion). The game was tied at 18 - 18 after 18 ends and took FOUR extra ends to decide, with Chris killing one and Maddie two before the opposition triumphed.

BE Family Pairs

Mark & Andrew Kaleta lost 11 - 22 to Jack Pullin & partner (Bredon BC)

Rod Payne & Dominic Simcoe beat Gail Langton & partner (Evesham) 16 - 12.
Unfortunately they then had to concede a walk-over to Izzy White & partner (Chester Road).

Deb & Chris Sherriff beat David Bennett & partner (Evesham BC) 22 - 13 after a shaky start, being 0-5 down after two ends.
They then beat a father & son team from Kington BC, Herefordshire 21 - 9 after 15 ends.
Next they played Izzy & Wayne White (Chester Road) in the area semi-final. Scores were level after 18 ends but Chris & Deb won the extra end
Sadly they lost 10 - 18 to Allan & Harvey Griffiths in the area final. Nip and tuck to 10 ends but then the opposition pulled away.

BE Mens Top Club

Lilleshall lost a nail-biting away game against Barbourne 3 - 2 on an extra end of the final match. (Match report).

BE Mens Club 2 Fours

Lilleshall lost a nail-biting home game against Evesham 40 - 39. (Match report).

BE Tony Allcock Trophy

Lilleshall beat Hewell B away with both rinks winning and a combined shot difference of + 10. The team consisted of Alan Harvey, Liz Caird, Sylvia Newbery and Dave Aveley, together with Mike Caird, Mitzi Harvey, Sheila Payne and Rod Payne. The game was held up after 6 ends by heavy rain, thunder, lightning and hail and it was over 30 minutes before play could recommence.
The weather couldn't have been more different as the team faced Barbourne in glorious sunshine at Lilleshall. Despite some excellent play, and the support of the GB Olympic gymnasts watching from the terrace, the team couldn't avenge the Top Club loss, eventually going down 29 - 41.

WBA Mens Singles (2W)

Mark Kaleta and Chris Sherriff took part in the county men's 2 wood singles knockout tournament at Stourport BC, with both reaching the quarter finals.
Mark won two matches before coming up against England trailist Harvey Griffiths (St Dunstan's BC) who subsequently reached the final.
Chris beat two highly regarded Vines Park players, but then lost to Rob Stanley (Worcester BC) who eventually emerged as the tournament champion.

And followed that with a 21 - 14 win over Glenn Weaver of Gilt Edge.
Followed by a 21 - 17 win over Alan Lerry of St.Dunstan's to reach the quarter-final
In the quarter final he beat Jack Cook of Worcester BC, the 2017 under-25 champion, 21 - 16.
In the semi-final Mark faced Richard Moule of Vines Park (the current champion). Mark started brilliantly with a four but Richard then fought back and established a seven shot lead (9 - 16). Mark then rallied, reaching 16 - 19, but Richard found the two singles needed to win. The final will be an all Vines Park affair as in the other semi-final Gareth Burbridge (VP) beat Steve Poyner (the current National Mens Senior Singles champion, also from Vines Park) 21 - 20.

Dominic Simcoe beat Scott Jones (Chester Rd) 21 - 3.
He then beat Martin Taylor of Bredon 21 - 13.
Unfortunately he lost 13 - 21 in the third-round to A Jones of Pershore.

Mark Hussell lost 17 - 21 to D Bond of Redditch.

Peter Hancock lost 17 - 21 to G Burbridge of Vines Park.

Chris Sherriff beat G Tomkinson (Hewell) 21 - 7.
He then beat Neil Clarke of Gilt Edge. Chris established a 14 - 7 lead but was pegged back to 18 - 18 before securing a 21 - 19 win. His next match is against I Taylor of Hewell.
Unfortunately he lost 15 - 21 in a 26-end game against I Taylor of Hewell.

Rob Attwood lost 6 - 21 to Neil Clarke of Gilt Edge.

WBA Mens Pairs

Rod Payne & partner lost 13 - 18 against R Hall & partner (Worcester BC)

Chris Sherriff & Mark Kaleta beat A Jones & partner (Pershore) 23-10 in the preliminary round.
They then beat Steve Clouder & partner (Bredon) 18 - 11 (after 17 ends) in round 1.
And followed up that victory with a 29 - 12 win (in 16 ends) over Richard Payne & partner (Chester Road BC).
Finally they lost 15 - 21 to R Dawson of Worcester BC.

Mark Hussell & Peter Hancock lost 10 - 18 to Jamie Curtis & partner (Evesham).

Mike Caird & Colin Meadows lost 13 - 20 to Keith Weaver & partner (Gilt Edge).

Rob Attwood & Quentin Smith beat Nick Goodwin & Mark Riley (Broadway) 22 - 11
They had to abandon a home game against Dickie Banks and James Collins (Vines Park) after 5 ends because of rain, with their opponents leading 5 - 3. They then had to concede the game as the green was not available to complete the match.

WBA Mens Triples

Martin Davies, Mark Kaleta and Chris Sherriff lost 7 - 19 to Keith Weaver & team (Gilt Edge)

Rob Attwood, Peter Hancock and Mark Hussell lost 8 - 20 to Alan Clarke's team (St.Dunstans)

Mike Caird, Quentin Smith & Rod Payne beat Rich Hill, Dave Pulley & Jon Harrod (Manor Park) 17 - 14.
Mike Caird, Dave Aveley & Rod Payne then avenged the above defeat by beating Alan Clarke's team 17 - 16.
Quentin returned to the team for the third round match against Robert Bourne, Matt Taylor & Chris Barton of Vines Park, played on a fast green at Gilt Edge. The game started very tight with only 8 shots scored in the first 7 ends. A dropped 3 and 2 put Lilleshall 4 - 11 down after 10 ends. After 14 ends they were five shots down (7 - 12) but a three brought them back into contention. Singles were traded and our boys were 11 - 13 down going into the last end. Good play all round saw Lilleshall holding three with just the opposition skip's last bowl to come. He just failed to disturb the head, giving Lilleshall the win 14 - 13 - the first time in the game they were ahead!
In the semi-final match played at Stourport they faced Neil Clarke, Jonathon Smith and Glenn Weaver of Gilt Edge. The game started tight, with only ten shots scored in the first nine ends - sadly nine of those by our opponents! Our team played well and shots were largely shared in the second half. Gilt Edge's skip, Glenn, in particular played some excellent shots to score or cut down when we were holding and was instrumental in leading his triple to their 18 - 8 victory. We wish them good fortune in the final and at Leamington.

WBA Mens Fours

Peter Hancock, Colin Meadows, Mark Hussell and Chris Sherriff suffered a heavy 5 - 29 defeat against Mark Atkins's strong team from Worcester BC.

Bill Greenway's four lost 15 - 18 to A Griffin's four from Hewell.

Unfortunately she then succumbed 6 - 21 to Julie Morgan of Manor Park.
