Members were joined by friends from St.Michael's BC to compete for the Jack Borrett drawn mixed triples competition. A fiendishly controlled draw ensured not only were all triples mixed, but all included players from both clubs.
The format was a simple round-robin consisting of five matches of 6-end, 2-wood triples. Competition was tight and after just three rounds only one team had not recorded a loss. That team won again in the fourth round, meaning they took an unbeatable 4-point lead into the final match.
In second place was the triple of Ernie Shea (St.Michael's), Ruth Lowe and Rod Payne, but clear winners (unbeaten) were Malcolm Simmonds (St.Michael's), Cynthia Hadley (St.Michael's) and Sheila Payne. Lilleshall President Thelma Stanley made the presentation to the winning triple.
The Jack Borrett Cup is one of Lilleshall's traditional charity days. A higher than usual match fee, teamed with a large raffle of donated prizes, ensured over £150 was raised for the Severn Hospice.
