    • Members gathered at the club on Saturday 15 April for an opening social including a beef stew and jacket potato luncheon.

    Welcoming speeches from Chairman Iain Ellis and Captain Frank Beasland set the tone for the new season and updated members on the upgrading and maintenance work that the Sports Centre have carried out to the green during the closed season.

    Eight hardy souls braved a pretty chilly wind to play a few ends of pairs and they reported the green running well for this early in the season. Next week sees the first of the club's one-day competitions - the Valerie Smith Memorial Trophy "Yardstick" competition.
