Six pairs contested the National Sports Centre Cup (2-wood drawn pairs) competition on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Play was brisk and accompanied by occasional bursts of popular music from the major archery competition taking place on the adjoining terraces of Lilleshall Hall.
The competition was organised on a league basis with each team playing all the others over eight ends. The victors were Mike Caird and Sheila Simcoe who, unusually for such a short format, emerged unbeaten from the five rounds.
