Lilleshall members were joined by friends from St.Michael's BC for the Jack Borrett Cup charity drawn mixed triples competition. Twenty four bowlers took to the green to contest a round-robin tournament of seven six-end matches of two-bowl triples.
As usual the supported charity was the Severn Hospice and in addition to the bowling there was a large raffle with donated prizes, guess the lucky square and number of sweets in the jar and oodles of scruptious cakes!
The bowling was of a high standard and after three rounds of matches only two teams remained unbeaten. They met in the fourth round, which gave the eventual winners the edge. In third place was the triple of Gill Ralphs (St.M's), Malcolm Simmonds (St.M's) and Paul Mitchell who, after a disastrous start, won all four of their last games to finish with 15 points and a shot difference of +4. In second place were Cynthia Hadley (St.M's), Maggi Sisson and Gerry Westcott (St.M's) with 17 points (SD -2). Winners, with seven wins from their seven games (21 points, SD +56!) were Kath Matthews, Rod Payne and Quentin Smith.
Both Rod and Quentin have good records in this competition - this was a seventh success for each of them! Result history
The Treasurer's abacus was glowing white-hot totting-up up the match fees, raffle and other proceeds and associated donations. We were delighted to find that the total raised was just over £300.
