Lilleshall Hosts Bowls England Match (July 2024)
The Club was delighted to be asked to be a neutral green for one of the All England Round of 32 Tony Allcock Trophy matches. On Tuesday 23 July, Shepsted Town BC (B) from Leicestershire (the challenger) played Bolton Flat Green BC from Lancashire. The weather was superb as the entertaining game was played out, watched by some visiting supporters and a good turnout of Lilleshall members.
At the start each team had one rink scoring well and one struggling, however the aggregate scores were always withing three and after ten ends the scores were tied at 16-16. The eleventh end proved critical with the Bolton rinks scoring a three and a four to move to 23-16. Shepsted pulled back a couple of shots, but Bolton hung on and eventually ran out winners 36-27, earning them a last 16 game against Thirsk Athletic (Yorkshire).
UPDATE: Bolton won their game against Thirsk Athletic 43-27, earning them a place in the quarter final at Leamington. They play Boscombe Cliff (Hampshire) on Friday 16 August.
UPDATE 2: Bolton beat Boscombe Cliff (Hampshire) 32-30 and now face Felixstowe & Suffolk (Suffolk) in the semi-final on 17 August. We wish them well.
Full details of the last 32 teams can be found here.
Worcestershire were represented by St.Dunstan's A, who unfortunately succumbed to Welford-on-Avon (Warwickshire).
