Four ladies and twelve gentlement took to the green in lovely sunshine to contest the Matthews Plates drawn pairs competitions.
With just four ladies a simple draw picked the teams and a 14-end, 4-wood pairs match was played. Mitzi Harvey ans Sheila Payne draw away steadily and at one point held a 14-3 lead. However Liz Caird and Ruth Lowe fought back and the match went into the last end at 16 apiece. In a tough last end Mitzi and Sheila scores a four to win the game 20-16.
The me were drawn into six pairs who all played each other in a five game round-robin of just five ends each game. There was somewhat of an "end of term" feeling and much fun was had with teams swapping positions, espcially after losing a couple of games! One team fared extremely well, winning all five games and collecting 15 points, so congratulations to Clive Walmsley and Alan Harvey. Runners-up by shot diffrence on 13 points, were Marek Kaminski and Colin Meadows - two-thirds of the Lilleshall Cougars Borrett Cup winning triple.
