  • Quiz Teams Battle it Out (July 2022)
  • On Friday 29th July, 19 club members, family & friends took part in a quiz at the clubhouse with 6 teams tackling 10 rounds of questions set by Mike Caird. Midway through there were refreshments of plated food - pork pie, two large slices of cheese, bread stick and salad - prepared by Sheila, Rod & Liz, and a hot drink, all covered by the £5 per head entry fee.

A fine start was made by 3 teams - Castlers, Follies and Big Cats - all scoring 10 on the first round, but it soon became clear that the Castlers and Follies were the teams to beat. In the end, the winners were the Follies with 89 points, so Colin, Rob and Paula each won a Dobbies Garden Centre voucher for £15. Runners up with 80 points were the Castlers - Alan, Mitzi & their friend Brenda and third with 77 were Mothers Pride - Paul, Beryl & their friend Sue.

The scores for the remaining teams were 73, 63 & 62, but we won't name them, to spare their blushes!

Feedback from the evening was that everyone enjoyed themselves and we will look to hold more quizzes in the future, perhaps even later this year. Six teams seems to be about the limit we can have in the clubhouse, so if more people want to participate (and there were people who would have played, but weren't free that evening), we could increase the size of each team.
